Enhancements Help Invodo Clients Drive Video Views and Sales
November 22, 2010
AUSTIN, Texas–(EON: Enhanced Online News)–Invodo®, the only full-service eCommerce video partner for online retailers, today announced a series of enhancements to the Invodo video player. The new player automatically adapts to device platform standards, including HTML5, and provides functionality for sharing eCommerce video via social media and email channels.
As consumers increasingly shop on devices ranging from PCs to smartphones to iPads, retailers must ensure that their video platform is able to deliver to those customers. Invodo’s latest version of the InPlayer supports both Flash and HTML5. Consumers who shop on an iPad, iPhone or Android-based phone or tablet will be able to view Invodo video on retail sites in their device’s native Web browser. The player determines the standard required by each individual browser and delivers the appropriate video, optimized for that platform.
“Consumers simply want to be able to view videos on whichever devices they’re using, and these enhancements let retailers deliver that experience,” said Craig Wax, CEO of Invodo. “The latest version of the InPlayer allows retailers to easily expand the reach of video to mobile devices, tablets or whatever the consumer is using.”
The InPlayer also now enables consumers to share videos via Facebook, Twitter and email. Consumers who find a product video helpful can easily share it with their friends and followers by clicking a sharing icon. This expands retailers’ reach and drives qualified traffic to their sites. According to Comscore, Facebook has become the second most popular video sharing site in the US. So allowing consumers to share video content will be a key objective as retailers launch or expand their video programs.
“Our focus with this release was on helping retailers get the most out of their video investment by simplifying the process for extending content to new devices and new channels,” continued Wax. “By making eCommerce video available at every point of consumer influence, retailers can significantly impact conversion rates. We’re making that easy for them to accomplish.”
The player seamlessly integrates with all the elements of Invodo’s full-service eCommerce video solution, including the platform and video syndication network. Retailers that work with Invodo will get all the technology and services necessary to create and implement high-quality video at scale and rapidly realize the benefits of increased conversion rates and decreased product returns.

Analysis Shows Improved Time on Page and Higher Impact for Specialized Products
October 6, 2010
AUSTIN, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Invodo®, the only full-service eCommerce video partner for online retailers, today announced that Living Direct, Inc., an Internet 500 retailer specializing in appliances since 1999, has confirmed multiple benefits from Invodo’s video solution. Collected data identifies which product categories receive the highest conversion lift from video and shows other benefits including increased user engagement.
“Consumers are often unfamiliar with products like portable ice makers and require a good deal of information – often more than can be conveyed by text and product images alone,” said Drew Leakey, VP of Marketing & Business Development at Living Direct. “One of our main goals as a company has always been to understand and meet customers’ needs for information about their purchases. We determined that implementing video on our sites was an optimal way to provide the comprehensive information and guidance consumers require in order to shop our products online.”
Living Direct partnered with full-service eCommerce video provider Invodo to launch a video initiative on its network of sites, which includes LivingDirect.com and IceMakerDirect.com. Invodo produced custom video content which was hosted and streamed to Living Direct’s sites through Invodo’s player. The goal was to provide more information and context in order to improve the customer’s understanding of the product and its uses. Video on product pages, as in this example on LivingDirect.com, helps increase conversion rates. Buyer’s Guide pages such as this example on IceMakerDirect.com help consumers learn to shop unfamiliar categories knowledgeably.
The impact on conversion was positive, as expected, but Living Direct wanted to learn more about the effect video was having on customer behavior. The team performed a deeper analysis of the data, evaluating the impact by product as well as looking at other site metrics.
The analysis uncovered a strong positive relationship between product complexity and conversion impact. The more complex products saw twice the conversion lift that the less complex products did.
“For retailers with large catalogs, identifying where to start with video initiatives can be a daunting task,” said Craig Wax, CEO of Invodo. “Understanding which product groups experience the highest impact and conversion rates tells retailers where to start in covering their product categories.”
Living Direct also determined that time spent on page increased by nearly nine percent when video was present and that video has multiple benefits, depending on location of the media. On a product page, it drives conversion. In a Buyer’s Guide or Learning Center, it drives engagement and teaches consumers how to shop a category, including what features to select and how to choose between them.
“The Invodo solution provided the benefits we expected in conversion, but goes beyond that by increasing engagement and having multiple uses,” continued Leakey. “We expect even more insight to come from the A/B testing built into the new release of Invodo’s platform. Now that we’ve established that video helps our customers, testing different types will help us understand exactly what type of video they find most helpful.”

Lenovo and Magellan’s plan eCommerce video implementations to improve customer experience and increase sales
September 9, 2010
AUSTIN, Texas – Invodo®, the only full-service eCommerce video partner for online retailers, today announced two new customers. Lenovo and Magellan’s are working with Invodo for eCommerce video initiatives going into the Holiday season.
Invodo, a full service eCommerce video solution provider, creates high-quality content at scale and develops leading technology to implement and deliver online product video on retail sites and other points of consumer influence. Both Lenovo, a leading PC maker, and Magellan’s, a retailer of unique and useful travel products, chose Invodo because of its full service capabilities.
“Invodo impressed us with their scalable production and full-service approach,” said Lynn Staneff, Director of Marketing at Magellan’s. “It took less than a month to go from shooting our products to having video live on the site. Invodo’s SEO-enabled player automatically generates the video sitemaps needed to drive site traffic based on the video content, and the customer experience is proven to help shoppers. We are excited that our customers will have this additional feature as they shop for their loved ones during the holidays.”
Invodo recently launched the latest version of its eCommerce video player, the InPlayer, which both companies are implementing as part of their video initiatives. The InPlayer is the lightest player in the industry. Faster page loads, especially during the high traffic shopping season, will keep customers from straying away from the site. According to Google’s latest ranking considerations, faster page loads also protect the SEO benefit retailers receive from having unique video content.
“Consumers who view product videos are 85 percent more likely to buy than those who do not, so retailers adding eCommerce video to their site stand to gain a huge advantage during the shopping season,” said Craig Wax, CEO of Invodo. “Lenovo and Magellan’s are set to make the most of that advantage.”
Other Invodo customers with video ready for the holidays include Internet Retail 500 companies like Verizon Wireless, MooseJaw, Land of Nod, Stacks and Stacks and Living Direct.

Design Focuses on the Next Generation of eCommerce Video
April 12, 2010
Invodo®, the only full-service eCommerce video partner for online retailers, today announced the first in a series of enhancements to the Invodo video player. The new player will allow retailers more customization, faster page loads and increased benefit from SEO.
As online retailers seek to leverage the proven sales benefit of product video, choosing a technology that will not weigh down the page is essential. A Google spokesperson recently explained in an interview that page load times will have an impact on search engine rankings moving forward. Invodo’s new video player comes in at a lightweight 25k, which is 50-90 percent smaller than the average size of alternative solutions.
“Our focus with this new version was on three main priorities for online retailers using video – speed, customization and flexibility for the future,” said Craig Wax, Invodo CEO. “The standards based model means we have the capability to move and evolve with the demands of the market. If HTML5 becomes dominant, we can go there. If another technology comes into play, we’ll adjust. Competitors keep building separate display engines, requiring continuous rebuilds as the industry and technology progress. We’ve built in the ability to be agile.”
The Invodo development team chose to use minimal flash, incorporating other code such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript to allow for extensive and rapid customization. This flexibility will also contribute to future player capabilities including the ability to display content of any type, such as 360 views and photos. Retailers will showcase products with ease in whatever format best represents the features to the consumer.
