Online video is everywhere. YouTube and similar platforms have made posting and distributing video content easy, fast, and fun. With over 75% of online users watching online video, the viewing audience is massive and appealing to content generators.
Even with aggregate video sites, there is still some ambiguity on how to utilize online video for B2C purposes. Almost 70% of consumers compare products online thus creating a market ready and willing to receive pertinent information to help drive purchase decisions. Invodo has found that eCommerce video is the answer and solution to delivering said information to increase sales and conversion on retail sites. However, implementing video for an eCommerce application has many unknowns.
What kind of video drives conversion and sales?
What is the best implementation of online video on an eCommerce site?
What is the upkeep and cost of hosting, streaming, and managing content?
Invodo has developed an innovative video platform that answers these questions and solves the problems inherent in syndicating video content in a B2C scenario.
eCommerce Video increases product sales and online conversion by demonstrating key product features while creating an engaging personal shopping experience. In essence, an eCommerce video is a virtual salesperson explaining products to online shoppers at their point of purchase. eCommerce video should be enticing, authentic, personable, to the point, feature focused, and targeted.
As for implementation, embedded is the way to go. Statistics have shown that 80% of consumers will watch a product video when it is directly embedded into a page resulting in 30% higher conversion rates for that product. Pretty compelling for online retailers.
Upkeep and cost of creating content then hosting, streaming, and maintaining it can be very expensive. By utilizing a platform, such as Invodo, you don’t have to worry about any of the headaches or costs. We use a top tier CDN to ensure that there are never any issues with content delivery.
Online video is here to stay. In order benefit from video, you have to consider your video needs and how to best satisfy them. Invodo offers manufacturers and online retailers a turn key video solution designed to increase sales and conversion rates as well as provide a rich media experience to online audiences. The time is now to learn about eCommerce video, love it, and embed it!
Statistics have shown that 80% of consumers will watch a product video when it is directly embedded into a page. More importantly, conversion rates for that product tend to be 30% higher after viewing the video. In the end, an embedded video player makes sure more people click to watch your videos, improving your chances they’ll actually buy your product.

Hi there,
I’ve been looking recently into online video as a means for promoting my product listings (I’m partner in a company that manufactures premium sex toys). I must admit I’m a little confused by the options and possibilities available.
From the little “shopping around” I’ve done I’m under the impression that production grade videos are likely to burn a pretty large hole in my pocket.
The self shot option I chose is obviously cheap (I used Picasa to create a youtube slideshow which I embedded in my product pages) however I don’t know how effective it is.
I’ve recently been made aware of the ecommerce video solution that http://Treepodia.com offer. They advertise that their platform creates a few automated videos for every product listing and then performs split testing to determine which product video is yielding the highest conversion rate. Based on the data collected the platform then promotes that video above the others. It sounds logical and cool, and obviously would save me time however I’m not really sure whether automated videos are what I want.
Are you aware of Http://treepodia.com?
Are there other solutions like it out there?
Any thoughts or input you’d like to share would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Mike

Hi Mike,
A little “shopping around does indeed create the impression that production grade videos are a big expense – especially if you’re talking with video production companies. The standard video production company model falls flat for eCommerce video in two areas.
First, they are used to a low ratio of shooting hours to minute of finished video. That makes sense if you’re shooting a television commercial. It doesn’t work if you want to cover a manufacturer’s product catalog with the kind of video that converts customers online. In contrast, we can cover 30-50 products in a day of shooting at a price much lower than a production house. And second, video production companies know the creative side of the business quite well, but they lack expertise in what kind of video will drive conversion online. For Invodo, that’s our sole focus.
That also speaks to the main way I’d differentiate Invodo from Treepodia. They have a good solution for covering a product catalog cost-effectively, but cost isn’t the only factor. The key question is “does it convert customers online.” Research suggests that customers have become adept at tuning out messages that they think of as one-sided, commercial…the voice of marketing past. Instead, they look for authenticity, trust and transparency. That trend explains the rise of social media and social marketing. An automated solution, however cost-effective, is not going to create the connection that consumers seek. That’s why a simple video by a product manager or other informed and committed person, like http://promo.invodo.com/sportinggoods/, converts customers online more effectively than any other type of media.
Hi Russ,
I think the accelerated evolution of ecommerce for video in the recent past, and the impression that this is a trend that is here to stay, guarantee vendors of all sizes will find solutions best fitting their needs.
The initial solution a vendor chooses will suit the businesses requirements at that stage, as the business evolves so will the choices leading to working with a particular solution or vendor: Just as I began by creating self made-video (for budget and timeliness), will hopefully evolve into needing a service such as your own (for professionalism and effect) and eventually require automation like Treepodia offer (for the sheer volume and rapid turnover).
My, admittedly rather banal, observation is that supply and demand rule this industry too…
; )
Good Vibes Dude,
Mike
