Invodo Launches Embedded Video Player and API for Online Retailers

eCommerce Video Solution Incorporates Embedded Player, API and World’s Largest Library of Product Videos
September 30, 2009

Invodo, the hub for eCommerce video, announced the launch of its Premium Services package today. The offering increases sales for online retailers by bringing together the key elements of merchandising, delivery and content, offering online retailers a complete eCommerce video solution.

Product videos are merchandised with the fully customizable Embedded Video Player, which drives conversion to sales on online retail sites by engaging and informing shoppers. An important benefit is the ability to drive higher product views while keeping users on the product page. Users are five to seven times more likely to view an embedded video than a video in a pop-up window.

Content delivery is greatly simplified by use of the Application Programming Interface (API) to call video content based on codes such as industry-standard UPC, manufacturer-standard MPN, or even the retailer’s own proprietary SKU. All content is hosted by Invodo and streamed on demand to the retailer’s site, making it easy for retail partners to integrate and maintain current videos without the hassle of manually uploading for individual products.

“Our customers see the impact of video on conversion,” said Craig Wax, CEO at Invodo.”But acquiring and managing the content is a big challenge. This offering lets them drive higher conversion without the challenges of content production, the headaches of content management, or the need to integrate multiple point solutions.”

Invodo’s library boasts over 20,000 videos from more than 2,000 manufacturers, making it the largest product video library in the world. Invodo provides brands with cost-effective video production with a consistent eCommerce focus. This is a major selling point for online retailers, as Invodo delivers content that drives conversion on product pages rather then more expensive brand-oriented video that is less effective in creating sales at the point of purchase.

“Invodo’s player was easy to implement, and the content from key manufacturers helps our customers,” said Cathy McManus, Marketing Director at online retailer Stacks and Stacks. “It was an easy choice for us since we needed a complete solution including the content, player, hosting and streaming.”

According to a recent study by eMarketer, a leading digital media research firm, “Retailers cite increased sales, higher conversion rates, lower return rates, fewer abandoned shopping carts and reduced calls to customer service as benefits of video.” Many leading retailers claim a 30-40% sales increase in products that are supported with video. Premium Services are officially launched!

You may hear the sounds of celebration coming from Invodo World Headquarters as we celebrate the official launch of our Premium Services for Retailers. We’ve had all the pieces for a couple months, but we’ve now packaged our embedded video player with access to our content library as an offering for online retailers. The total package helps them sell more by driving conversion on product pages. So we’re all celebrating in our own ways…Marc’s making mimosas, Melissa’s ordering six more pairs of shoes, and I’m blogging and sending press releases.

Content can be called to a retailer’s site via our API, available to all Premium Services customers. API stands for Application Programming Interface, a geeky way of saying “If you know the UPC, MPN or SKU for the products you carry, you can automatically call the content you need.”

We’ve had Premium Services in beta for some time and response has been good, as evidenced by what our friend Cathy at Stacks and Stacks has to say in the release here. We’re excited to make it official today and welcome your comments and feedback on it.

Content across the country

Lensbaby 2

Invodo now offers select customers eCommerce video production services unique to their specific products and industry.  Over the past two weeks, acting as a production assistant, I have had the pleasure of shooting some amazing eCommerce videos for three of Invodo’s premium manufacturers including Brooks Sports, Lensbaby, and Marker/Volkl.

eCommerce video is designed to increase product sales and online conversion by demonstrating key product features while creating an engaging personal shopping experience.

Each shoot captured video that highlighted the main features and benefits of the products presented, as well as provided additional anecdotal clips for consumers to emotionally connect with.  The results were fantastic and the videos will soon be syndicated to appropriate eCommerce sites in time for the Holiday Shopping Season.

To all you manufacturers…. With over 75% of Internet users watching online video and 70% of consumers comparing products online, don’t let your competition get ahead.  Let Invodo be your complete eCommerce video solution and turn your browsers into buyers.

Special thanks to Geoff Curtis at Marker/Volkl, Greg Sharp and Craig Strong from Lensbaby, and Meredith Han from Brooks Sports.
