Yamaha DTXtreme 3 Electronic Drum Kit: I'm Jim Haylor, Product Manager for Yamaha Drums. This is the DTXtreme 3 Electronic Drum Set. We make two versions of this kit. This is the standard version. And we also make the special version that's available on the hex-rack. The unique thing about this kit is the module. Now, it's a sampling module. When you load the optional dim memory, has 512 megabytes of sampling memory. And you can either sample directly via the auxiliary input, has an on-board sample editor, or you can also load your samples via a USB port from a USB flash drive. It also transmits as many information via the USB hookup, so if your recording directly to a computer it'll transmit all that information. And it transmits at a very high speed. The cymbal pads are all three-zone, so you get the bell, the bow and the edge. The drum pads are also three-zone, so you get the edge and two zones on the rims. Has a red controller knob on it. On the snare-drum pad it defaults the snare tension so you can actually change the tension on the snares of the snare-drum. While the tom pads, it'll let you change the pitch on the fly without having to go to the module. You can also go into the auxiliary function and change it so that these perform several other functions. Different trigger parameter changes, filter changes and volume, padding etc. Kick tower is a new design. The KP125, got a very solid feel to it, so it doesn't move around on you and it feels like you're really laying into an acoustic kick-drum. It's got plenty of room for a double pedal. And you can also daisy-chain two of these together if you prefer to play two separate pads. The new RHH135 high-hat pad actually mounts on the included high-hat stand and it mounts with a specially designed clutch. So it moves up and down, so it feels very linear just like using a regular acoustic kit. You've got separate sliders for your kick, snare, toms, cymbals, high-hat and all your miscellaneous percussion voices. So you can actually send a sub-mix out to the PA if your playing live and you can just use this standard left and right out. Also has six individual outs for recording, so you can actually split the kit into six different outputs, run them all into separate tracks to make mix down in the studio much easier. The standard version is available in a nice lightweight, compact aluminum rack, so if you need to fit it into a little tighter space. And then the special version on the hex-rack includes an extra cymbal and an extra pad, takes up a bigger foot print that allows a little more creativity for you as well. It's based on a Motif XS Operating System, so you have 214 melodic voices. So we've got keyboards, guitars, horns, violins, all sorts of little melodic options to operate with. And you can actually access those from the pad. There's an alternate stack mode where you can set up to 100 steps, so each time you hit the pad it triggers the next step. That step can either be a drum hit or it can actually be a melodic voice. And any of those steps can either be a single note or a stack of notes. So I can play a melodic thing by playing melody, melody, melody, cords, cords. And any of those notes can be any mini channel you want, so I can stack guitar, bass, keyboards, horns for doing hits. Or do like, simple like, out of note melodies on the pads as well. It really opens up a lot of creativity as a drummer and as a composer. I'm Jim with Yamaha. This is the DTXtreme 3 Electronic Percussion System.
