Yamaha DTXplorer Electronic Drum Kit: I'm Jim Haylor, Product Manager for Yamaha Drums. This is the DTXplorer Electronic Drum Kit. It's a full five piece electronic drum kit shipped complete with a bass-drum pedal. The module - you've got 214 drum and percussion sounds. You've got several pre-programmed drum kits that are ready to play for any kind of style. There's also ten user kits where you can actually take any of the sounds inside the module and custom build your own kits. There are pre-programmed songs inside that you can play along with and you can mute the drums and the other backing tracks out of and just play along with the bass line. For teaching and education, several great features. There is a programmable click and metronome in here, that'll play at several different time signatures, different subdivisions. There's a groove check function that'll actually show you on the screen if you're playing on the click, ahead of it or behind it. And the rhythm gate feature will actually mute out any hit that's not in time. It's a great feature to use because, instead of trying to get stiff and just hit the click and hit when the light comes on, you're focused more on keeping sound flowing, you're keeping music flowing. And as long as the sound is flowing, you're playing in time. So that helps you develop a really good strong internal clock, so when you're in situations when you're not playing with a click you've got a good natural sense of time. You can put a double pedal on the kick tower so it'll grow with you. You can actually expand this by adding another pad to it as well. By either splitting the kick-drum input with a Y-splitter or actually plug into the other side of the kick tower. All the pads are single-zone on this kit. However, you can upgrade the snare-drum pad for a three-zone pad. So you can have the head, rim-shot and cross-stick. Oh, and you can upgrade the cymbal pads to a dual-zone cymbal, as well.
