Yamaha CS865 Boom Stand: Hi, I’m Jim Taylor, product manager for Yamaha Drums. I’m going to talk about the CS865 Boom Stand. Many years ago, Yamaha invented the boom stand where the boom actually drops down inside the vertical tube so that it can also be used as a straight stand. New for this series, we have a clamping boom tilter, and what that does is actually grabs the boom all the way around and helps keep it more solid. The vertical tube has a plastic cap on it so that it won’t rattle in the studio. The new infinite angle cymbal tilter lets you get any angle on your cymbals that you want. You’re not locked into a certain angle where interlocking teeth have to hold your angle. All the fittings are pure zinc, so they’re strong and there’s no inclusions or little voids in there. So, it’s very, very durable. The way the double-brace legs are adds a lot of mass at the bottom, helps keep the cymbal stand straight, and also, by doing that, if you have a lot of cymbals in your setup, you can change the width of the leg base so it’s very stable.
