Sony Professional Audio XLR Microphone Adapter

Sony Professional Audio XLR Microphone Adapter: Hi, I’m Paul Foschino with Sony Professional Audio. We’re here to talk about the new XLR 1 Adapter, which is designed to go along with our two field recorders, either the PCM D-50 or the PCMD-1. Now both of those models have an excellent pair of electret condenser microphones included in them. But if you find yourself in a recording situation where you need to be able to use specialty microphones, that have XLR connectors on the end, then you might want to consider the XLR-1. This piece provides for you, two microphone inputs with XLR, along with phantom power so it’ll provide 48 volts to the microphones for you. So if you need to use a shotgun mic or a different microphone for a very particular purpose and you want to use it with your field recorder, the XLR-1 is an excellent way to go. It uses batteries only to power the phantom power portion; otherwise it’s a very high quality pair of balancing transformers, which will introduce no additional noise into the signal path. So the XLR-1 can mount next to either unit with this mounting plate or can mount right onto the bottom of the unit so it maintains the same footprint size. That’s the XLR-1 from Sony. Thanks a lot for listening.
