Sony Professional Audio PCM D50 Field Recorder

Sony Professional Audio PCM D50 Field Recorder: Hi, my name is Paul Foschino. I’m with Sony Professional Audio. I’d like to tell you a little bit about one of our new exciting field recorders, the PCM D50. The PCM D50 has been specifically designed for musicians, for radio journalists, for newsgathering or sound effects. It’s the perfect music recorder and the ideal product for any song writer or for somebody looking to capture creative sounds on an easy to use device. Now as you can see, it’s a self-contained recorder. It has a built in memory of four gig, which will allow you to record hours and hours of material all on the internal memory and then take it out through a USB port as a WAV file, and dump it into your computer. It has a matched pair of microphones, which are electret condenser microphones set up right on top. They can be set up in an X-Y pattern for recording a solo instrument or you can also separate the microphones, so if you’re looking to record a band and you wanted something with a bigger stereo separation and bigger imaging, you can set up the recording that way. You have metering set up, which is easy to view in an LCD display. You also have LEDs, which will flash and they’ll go green, all the way up to red, if you start to peak and overdrive your input level. You have a large record level on the side, which makes it very easy to record and to set up your record levels, and even make little minor adjustments while you’re making the recording. The unit is a very affordable piece designed to take out into the field and make recordings on the fly. That’s the PCM D50 from Sony. I hope you enjoy it. Thanks a lot.
