SYNR-G - Features

SYNR-G-Features: Hi, I'm Mike Foley, Director of Footwear Marketing for Foot Joy. I've been here at Foot Joy for about eight years. I started on the glove team. I spent the last six years working with the product development team developing our extensive shoe line. New for 2009 is a brand new category from Foot Joy called SYNR-G. This category was designed and developed for the more athletic golfer with the higher swing speeds. These players seek the utmost in platform stability and that's precisely what SYNR-G offers. I'm going to take you through the features and benefits of this shoe starting with the upper. The upper is made of ECL leather, that's extreme comfort leather system. It's very soft; it's breathable and completely waterproof without the need for a membrane. In addition in the saddle and the foxing areas we have incorporated calf skin leathers. The finest leathers that are offered for shoe making we are putting them into the details of the SYNR-G shoes. Inside the shoe we have a tremendous amount of features packed into the SYNR-G product. First and foremost is the memory foam. We have added thick memory foam around the collar and under the tongue. The memory foam around the collar and under the tongue is going to provide an incredible custom fit. Inside the shoe we have what is called the heel lock zone. It's a silicone print that's going to reduce the friction of your foot inside the shoe and it's going to hold and harness your foot back and down into the shoe for that added stability and support. Inside the SYNR-G is a PU Fit-Bed that's going to give you nice soft underfoot cushioning. In addition we've utilized a printing process using silicone print raised off the surface of the Fit-Bed that's going to provide extra traction and reduce the amount of friction inside the shoe. This is going to harness your foot down and into the shoe and limit the mobility of your foot inside the shoe.

SYNR-G - Outsole

SYNR-G-Outsole: Perhaps the greatest feature of this SYNR-G product is the Tri-Density, TPU, G-Force outsole. This G-Force outsole has an alloy midfoot stability bridge and also a softer durometer TPU along the forefoot to provide added flexibility throughout the golf swing and from walking from tee to green. In addition we've got the Tri-Lateral Stability Frame. You see these three areas of the outsole have been wrapped up to provide additional motion control and support. This is TPU material wrapped up onto the EVA that's going to give you a lot more support again for those higher swing speed players that really go after the ball this is going to give them all the stability they need. Rounding out the outsole we've got the Stinger-3 cleat by Champ. This is going to give you an added measure of durability and stability as well as ground contact and traction. The SYNR-G outsole is made of Tri-Density TPU, it's thermal plastic urethane, it's very rigid material, however instead of having a fully rigid outsole we wanted to make sure we had areas in the forefoot flex region that was softer more comfortable with added flexibility. Here you have the dual OptiFlex zones in the forefoot area. This is a TPU material but it's a much softer durometer allowing the forefoot to flex comfortably and allowing your foot the ability to flex throughout the golf swing

SYNR-G - Shoe Sizing Tips

SYNR-G - Shoe Sizing Tips: Something that is also important to remember is over 80% of people wear the wrong size shoe, whether that's a width or a length. It's important to get the properly sized shoe and to do that it's great to try the shoe on and make sure it fits properly. You want to make sure in the forefoot, if the shoe fits properly; there is not going to be any overhang or stretching in the forefoot area. If it's too narrow, you'll be able to grip some excess leather. A properly fitting shoe fits the shoe perfectly. You want about the width of your thumbnail from the end of your toe to the end of the shoe. That's how much space you want because over the course of the day when you're walking 18 holes especially in warm weather, you're feet are going to swell a little bit so you want to make sure you incorporate enough space for that. You don't want your toe going right to the edge of the shoe.
