Pentax X70 Mega Zoom Camera - About

Pentax X70 Mega Zoom Camera - About: Hello, I'm Chris, I'm from Pentax Imaging Company out of Golden, Colorado and today I'd like to talk about the Pentax X70 Mega Zoom Camera. The big three features with this camera are its 2.7 inch anti-reflective screen, it's a 12 megapixel camera. But the one thing that we like to talk about it's got a 24x optical zoom lens. So it's approximately a 26 to 624 millimeter zoom combined with a 6.1 digital zoom, it's about 150x overall. And I'll show you how the lens extends right here. So it's a very substantial lens, and it's also a quick response. You can zoom the entire range fairly quickly. This is what we like to call a mega zoom camera and it fills a niche between compact cameras and traditional DSLR cameras, and it has features that apply to both. For example, from the DSLR cameras, let's say you would find metered manual, aperture priority, shutter priority modes, it also features a mode dial, an operation styling that you'd typically find in an SLR type camera. However, for people who are familiar with the use of compact cameras, it also features modes from compact cameras, such as smile capture, face detection, scene modes, things like that. Someone would be able to pick up this camera, if they're intimidated by a DLSR camera, and make a transition from compact photography into a camera such as this. Use this for a while, and then they're looking at this camera, and this camera is very similar in function to our traditional DSLR cameras. So they can immediately transition as well into that kind of camera, and not have to re-learn an entire system. This camera appeals greatly to people who don't necessarily need the bulk or the weight or the complexity of a DSLR system but they want the extreme zoom capabilities of this kind of camera. In addition to the 2.7 inch anti-reflective screen, it also features an electronic viewfinder. By pressing this button, you transfer all of the screen functions into the viewfinder, and now your imaging as well as your playback, menu access and other functions of the camera can be accessed through the viewfinder. So it's a very traditional way of operating a DSLR camera, for example. The Pentax X70 also features an electronic viewfinder. So, for example, if you are imaging like you would on a compact camera on the back of your screen here, you can transfer all the functions by pressing this button into the electronic viewfinder. So your composition, your playback as well as your menu access and other functions of the camera can be addressed through this traditional use of a DSLR camera by looking through the viewfinder here. The advantages of this, of course, if you're outside in intense lighting conditions and it's very difficult to see the screen, then you can very easily view images and playback and camera menu modes and all that through the electronic viewfinder. So this camera has the Pentax auto picture mode, and the auto picture mode allows the camera itself to determine what are you taking a picture of, and then the camera sets the correct corresponding shooting modes. So it'll determine, if there's a moving subject, it'll select an action mode. If there's no discernable subject, it might set a landscape mode. If there's a close-up subject, it'll set a macro mode, for example. Scene modes will access all the traditional scene modes you'd expect to find in a compact camera, as well as program, shutter priority, aperture priority, metered manual and a user mode that remembers a series of settings that can always refer back to those settings very easily by turning the dial to user mode. This is a very usable camera with features from both compact and DSLR worlds, and it's a great transition between the two. The Pentax X70.
