Panasonic DMC GH1 Camera – About: Hi, I'm Matt Frasier, field training manager for Panasonic. Today we are going to be talking about the Panasonic DMC GH1. GH, the H in GH stands for High Definition. This is one of the unique cameras on the market that has an interchangeable lense and can record High Definition Video all at the same time. The benefits of our high definition system are pretty simple. One, we can record at 1080p at 24 frames a second or 720p at a true 16 frames a second. Two, when you use your zoom lense on this camera it will actually focus while you use the zoom. I know that seems like a novel idea but we are right now the only one that can do it. Number three, if you're going to be buying a camera at this level, you might want to actually be able to adjust your aperture and your shutter speed. This is the only interchangeable lense camera that can do that while you're shooting your video. That gives us three distinctive advantages over anybody else's video functions in their high definition interchangeable lense product. It records in stereo sound with its built in stereo microphones. In addition it has a microphone jack so you can add an external microphone. Now, clearly I spent an awful lot of time talking about the video, you guys want to know about the still capabilities as well. This is a Micro 4/3rd system camera, so Micro 4/3rd cameras when you look at their bodies will have half the depth of just about any other interchangeable lense camera on the market. That's because we don't have a mirror in here, we don't have a pentaprism up here, and we don't have a face detecting auto focus system down on the bottom. This gives us a much smaller camera body. The lense that ships with this a 14:140 which is 35mm equivalent called a 20:280 lense. This lense here is a 28:120, so you can see there is a huge difference in size. This lense has twice the zoom range of this lense, but it's significantly smaller. That's because we removed the mirror which allows us to bring the lense closer to the CCD or in this case the CMOS. Aside from the ultra compact size, we incorporate an electronic view finder. Our electronic viewfinder is very different from anything you've ever seen before. It uses LCOS technology. This technology is used in 20 and 30 thousand dollar front projectors that you'll find in your favorite cinema down the street. It gives you the most stunning viewfinder you've ever seen in your life. In addition we're incorporating a 3 inch LCD screen and now you're in what is called full time live view. If you want to use the LCD screen, you're ready to go. If you put your eye up here, it automatically turns on the viewfinder for you. No more thinking about, boy I'd love to be able to use this viewfinder, unfortunately I can't because most interchangeable lense cameras can not. This camera will incorporate our intelligent auto functions, which includes intelligent scene selection, so when I point the camera for a Macro shot, the camera will automatically select Macro mode. When I point the camera at my subject, if it's a portrait, it will select portrait mode. If I select it at a landscape, it will do landscape mode. We are also incorporating our facial recognition software in this camera, so being that it is full time live view, it is the only camera on the market today that has full time facial detection and now we do facial recognition so you can program up to six faces into this camera, put their names next to it, when you take their picture it will automatically recognize that person, put their name up on the screen and optimize focus and exposure so they're the perfect exposure and focus for the shot. Imagine you've got 25 kids at a recital and you want to take a picture of them, you just want you're kid to be the focus though, so you're kid will be perfect. Once you've taken those pictures, you can then extract the facial information and name into the software that comes with the camera. That software will then allow you to organize the faces that are in the camera and then you can surf the hard drive for every picture you've ever taken on any camera. It will put all of those pictures in that folder so they are easily found. The software also allows you to add up to 10 faces so 6 in the camera and 10 in the software. Finally you have our auto focus tracking function, which allows you to point the camera at a subject, lock on that subject. That way no matter where they move in the frame, they are always in perfect focus, which also helps speed the camera up. The camera is also available in 3 fashion colors. It's available in gold, black or red.
