Exel P3 Cross Ski Pole - About

Exel P3 Cross Ski Pole – About: This is the model P3 Cross. It’s a great pole from Exel, been in the line for a while. It’s a super pole for anybody that’s looking for a little bit more performance oriented skiing, people that are getting into skating, are doing a combination of skate and classic. The only difference in skate and classic is you do have to adjust the pole length. Skating poles are generally sold between the chin and nose as far as the length that you should be picking, and a good classic pole is good and snug underneath your armpit or at least right to the top of your shoulder. So, you need to have that differentiation, but the pole is really the same. The features of the P3 is it comes with a little bit slimmer basket. It does have the carbide tip, so you can use it in the summer for roller skiing. You do need a carbide tip when you’re doing that. The tip is not quite as narrow as the top of the line, but it’s a little bit in the middle between the touring pole and the other one, so it’s great for racing. It also has a two component grip with a cork, so it’s very hand friendly, kind of warm and nice, and it also has a modern type strap where you do have a left and a right. Thumb goes up on one side, good closure with a very simple adjustment at the top so you can easily lengthen or shorten the strap depending on what fits your hand the best. You want to get a good, nice motion so when you extend the pole, it feels like you want to retract it very simply. It’s a great all-around pole and very well priced for what it is.
