About Northwave Drake Czar Binding: The Czar. The Czar comes in three colors. You're looking at the black/red colorway, currently. So with the Czar, as far as technology goes, you're getting full leather ankle strap. Leather with Cordura mixed on the toe strap. Quick adjust on the ladder straps, both on the toe and heel. Five-position ratchets on the inset. Rubber dampening, to kind of dampen the layer in between the board and the binding. On the footprint of the binding, you're getting dual-density. So the red is a harder material, and the black is a softer material. Really making sure no heel bruising , and that sort of stuff, takes place, with three-position gel on the heel. Again, you're getting and upgraded heel cup, which has some material pulled out, for lighter weight, but still a smooth transaction, quick edge-to-edge. The Czar hi-back uses soft material on the sides, as well as soft in the middle. But when you lean against the hi-back, it's still going to be very stiff, and very responsive, giving you a perfect edge on your heels.
