About Magnum 8.1 Skis

About Magnum 8.1 Skis: Hi! I’m Jed Duke with Blizzard Sport U. S. A. I’m the Division Manager. The first product that I’d like to talk to you about today is the multi-condition ski. It’s called the Magnum 8.1. It’s an 81-millimeter waisted wood core sidewall Titanol-type multi-condition ski. It has all of our top technologies. They are primarily the IQ system, which is our integrated binding system. It’s a binding system. You can see the rails here. The binding slides in. It’s fixed in the middle with one screw. The system itself has no glue, no screws whatsoever. It’s fully molded into the ski. The top sheet itself comes around the rails, and again, it’s fully molded in. The binding itself, the interface slides on, fixed with the central pin. The binding flexes around that central point, giving it an extremely round, free flex pattern.

High IQ System with Magnum 8.1

High IQ System with Magnum 8.1: The IQ system is also a very high performance binding system. We get that high level of performance from the closeness and tightness of the interface itself. The binding sits directly on the top of the ski as if it were screwed in. So you get very direct pressure from the foot through the binding to the edge of the ski, very direct pressure.

High Performance in Magnum 8.1 Skis

High Performance in Magnum 8.1 Skis: The last technology that I’d like to talk about in this ski is basically getting back to the fundamentals of high performance ski design, and that’s sidewall, full wood core, and Titanol. Those three materials together make the ski very high performance and very, very durable. There’s a lot of value in this ski because of full wood core, Titanol, and sidewall. Again, this is an 81-millimeter waisted ski. It’s 17 meter radius in size, 172. It’s a very easy skiing ski that really will fit the needs of all skiers all around the country.

How Magnum Powerframe Works

How Magnum Powerframe Works: We’ve been able to manipulate the power frame to meet the needs of the target group by making cuts in the interface. Those cuts allow the tip and the tail of the ski to flex easier. This is a multi-condition ski, which is skied generally in all types of snow terrain, variable types of snow, crud, powder, whatever. That type of snow conditions, you need a ski that’s a little bit more forgiving. So it has more cuts in it. If you looked into one of our racing models, the power frame would be solid for a stronger, more direct, more powerful ride.

Magnum 8.1 Skis Power Frame

Magnum 8.1 Skis Power Frame: The second technology that we have in this ski that’s also found throughout the Blizzard line, is called the power frame. The power frame is extra material that goes around the edges of the ski through the IQ interface down through the tail. Quite simply, it’s putting more material where it counts over the edges of the ski. That gives you increased edge grip and better overall performance.
