La Sportiva P3 Tech: Hi, this is Jonathan with La Sportiva, and I'm gonna explain to you the Permanent Power Platform, or P3, technology that we use in a lot of our climbing shoes. The concept behind the Permanent Power Platform technology is after you've used a climbing shoe for a number of weeks or months, it goes from a downturn shoe to a shoe that's shaped like this. Now the idea of the Permanent Power Platform is to always keep the downturn shape of the shoe, hence that will give you a lot more power in the sole, through the life of the shoe, and through multiple resoles. How we've done that is we've taken a traditional midsole piece, shaped it as a downturn shape, and then we use a figure-eight slingshot rand, that wraps around the heel. Essentially starts here, wraps around the heel, then comes back around, and ties in here. And this is constantly driving the shoe, and your toes, forward into the shoe. Now that elastomerized rubber, that's on this rand here, is tied into this midsole, which constantly gives you that downturn shape of the shoe. So after a few weeks, a few months of using the shoe, it's not going to be this shape, it's always going to be downturned, and then you can get multiple resoles, and use your shoe longer.
