Golf Pride Grips: Common Mistakes

Golf Pride Grips: Common Mistakes: The biggest mistakes amateurs make regarding their grips is that they don’t change them frequently enough; they have worn grips which affects performance. And secondly, the grips are not the right thickness. They do not realize that you can have thinner or thicker grips, which allows them to hang on to the club correctly and to make a good consistent swing. Golf Pride Grips: Eliminate Tension

Golf Pride Grips: Eliminate Tension: You know, a grip that’s a little worn, a little slick, you can’t believe the amount of tension that you need in order to hang on to the club. When you have to hang on to it, it creates excessive grip pressure. Remember, we want to swing the club; you want to stay relaxed. In order to do that, we have to keep our grip fairly light. But we cannot do that with a worn grip. For more information on the latest, greatest grips from Golf Pride, I encourage you to visit golfpride.com.

Golf Pride Grips: Thing to Consider

Golf Pride Grips: Thing to Consider: There’s no one grip that’s correct for everybody. But here are a few things you should consider when selecting your grip. Moisture control is very, very important. You may be playing in hot, humid conditions. You may be playing in sort of a rainy climate. You may just perspire more than the normal person or have sweaty palms when you’re playing for a lot of money. But it’s very important to have traction. You know, now we have a form of cord in the grip that can really help you, either a full-cord, a half cord, or a cord-rubber hybrid. And the old full-cord grips of years ago, some of you may remember, they were tough on your hands. But with the technology that Golf Pride has today, full-cord grips are just as soft as a regular grip, and you’ll be able to hang on to the club and get that great sensation from every shot that you hit. Let’s talk about responsiveness – the way the grip feels when you make contact with the ball. Not only when you’re holding the club, but when you’re making contact with the shot, you get a certain feel at the shaft. Now, a softer grip can dampen the vibration. So if you have any problems with wrists or elbows or shoulder joints, that soft feeling is great. Now many good players, they like a firm feeling in the grip to sense what’s actually happened through impact. It all depends on the construction of the grip, also the material that’s used. So you can have a soft grip, a firm grip. No matter what you choose, you’re going to get the sensation that you want to feel through impact. You must consider your hand size when selecting a grip. A lot of golfers play with grips that are incorrectly sized for them, either too thin or too thick. I think a good test is, when you hold a club up, if you simply place your middle two fingers on the heel pad here, they should just be touching. If the gap is too big, the grip is too thick. If I’m digging my nails into my pad, it’s too thin. So there’s a general rule. Important to make sure your grip size is correct, because if it’s not, you’re grip pressure is going to be incorrect. You’re going to be gripping it too tightly if it’s too thin. And a lot of times, if the grip is too thick, you’ll try to hang on to it but in actual fact you’ll lose the grip pressure and the face position will change through impact.
