Giant Twist Freedom DX

Giant Twist Freedom DX: Giant bicycle has pioneered hybrid cycling technology. Giant's been doing hybrid bikes for over ten years. The Twist Freedom DX is the latest version of Giant's hybrid cycling technology. Now some people may refer to this as an electric bike. It's really more than an electric bike. An electric bike gives you the idea that you get on, you flip a switch, you twist a throttle and you go. That's not really a bicycle, that's essentially a motorcycle. This is a bicycle. It employs hybrid technology. When the rider gets on this and begins to pedal, there's a sensor in the crank set, that senses just how much pedal power the rider is putting in to it. That computer, that's onboard this bicycle, then delivers some information to a lithium ion battery or energy pack that we have back here, and it supplies that battery power that's a motor in the front hub. Essentially, the bike assists the rider. That does a couple of things for the rider. It makes the pedaling just a little bit easier. The more the rider pedals, the more energy they get to assist them. It also affects the range on the battery. These lithium ion batteries are probably a third of the weight of most batteries on most electric bicycles. They also have a terrific range. Lithium ion batteries are like batteries in your cell phone or in your computer. Lithium ion batteries have a range – these two batteries – of about 70 miles. You can go 70 miles on one charge with two batteries on the Twist Freedom DX.
