About GV Snowshoes Bear Paw: This model of shoe is called the Bear Paw. It's oak wood shoe frame, with some cow hide in the width part. Cow hide is actually untanned leather that is weaved wet, and once it dries out it comes very, very stiff. And it's varnished on top, two coats of marine varnish, to prevent snow and humidity to come in contact with the cow hide. This model of shoe was traditionally more used by the bush workers, who needed a wider and a longer shoe for stability, and being able to carry a lot of weight.
