Fender Assembly - Materials

Fender Assembly - Materials: Your fender kit will come with two fenders (front and rear), three fender brackets, and also screws. There will be six 6mm screws used to attach the fenders to the frame, seven 5mm screws used to attach the brackets to the fender, and one additional 5mm screw to attach the rear fender to the frame. There will also be six 5mm nuts used to attach the brackets to the fender. The tools needed for the assembly process are: a ratcheting Phillips head screwdriver (if this tool’s not available, a regular Phillips head will also work), a 5/16 ratchet or wrench, 10mm wrench, and a Phillips head screwdriver. Before beginning assembly, we recommend arranging your work station as shown—an area to assemble the fenders and an area to hold the tools. This will make the fender assembly process run as efficient as possible.

Step 1 - Attach Brackets To Fenders

Step 1 - Attach Brackets To Fenders: Step 1 is to attach the brackets to the fenders. Start by inserting a 5mm screw in through the hole in the fender. Then place the fender bracket on the inside of the fender inserting the screw into the hole in the top of the bracket. Then place a 5mm nut on the screw and hand tighten it on. This will fix the bracket to the fender in a loose fashion. Hand tighten as much as possible. Repeat this process for the other hole as well. Then repeat this process for all three fender brackets--two on the rear fender and one on the front fender. You will then have all the brackets loosely attached to the fenders. The next step is to tighten down all of the screws using a Phillips head screwdriver and the 5/16 ratchet. Place the 5/16 ratchet on the nut and tighten with the Phillips head screwdriver. Repeat process for all brackets until all are firmly tightened onto the fenders. Once all brackets are attached, fenders should look as shown.

Step 2 - Deflate Rear Tire

Step 2 - Deflate Rear Tire: Step 2 is to deflate the rear tire in order to attach the rear fender. Letting all the air out will make the fender installation that much easier. Ensure that nearly all the air has been let out by pressing down on the top of the tire.

Step 3 - Attach Rear Fender To Bike

Step 3 - Attach Rear Fender To Bike: Step 3 is to attach the rear fender to the bike. There are two connection points: connection point A and B. Connection point A attaches the rear tab of the fender with a 5mm screw. Connection point B attaches the brackets to the frame with a 6mm screw. Begin installation by sliding the rear fender over the tire. Then attach the rear tab of the fender to connection point A using a 5mm screw. First, hand tighten the screw in place. Then using the Phillips head ratcheting screwdriver, tighten down the screw. If you don’t have a ratcheting screwdriver, a regular Phillips head will also work. Ensure screw is tightly secured. This will prevent fender from moving while riding. Next, attach the fender brackets to the frame at connection point B, spots 1 and 2, using the 6mm screws. Make sure to tighten as much as possible to ensure the fender is securely fastened to the bike. The tighter the screws are secured, the less the fender will move during riding. After attaching both screws on one side of the bike, repeat the process for the other side.

Step 4 - Attach Front Fender To Bike

Step 4 - Attach Front Fender To Bike: Step 4 is to attach the front fender. There are two connection points for the front fender: connection point A, where the top tab of the fender is mounted, and connection point B located on the fork. Start by removing the reflector using the Phillips head screwdriver and the 10mm wrench. Then slide the front fender onto the tire between the forks making sure the tab on top of the fender is behind the fork. Then reattach the reflector, inserting the bolt through the frame, making sure to also insert the bolt through the top tab on the fender. Hand tighten on the nut to the back of the screw, loosely tightening the fender on. Then use the Phillips head screwdriver and 10mm wrench to tighten securely. Then just as on the rear fender, connect the fender bracket to the fork at connection point B using a 6mm screw. Fenders can be adjusted by sliding the bracket either forward or backward. Tighten at desired position.

Step 5 - Re-Inflate Rear Tire

Step 5 - Re-Inflate Rear Tire: Lastly, remove valve cover and attach pump. In this case, we’re using a hand pump but generators will also work. The recommended PSI will be labeled on the tire wall. It is very important not to over inflate your tires as it is possible for tubes to explode which could then cause the tire wall to explode as well.

Step 6 - Take A Ride

Step 6 - Take A Ride: Lastly, there is only one more thing left to do, take your new cruiser for a ride.
