Feel Wedges - Align your Shoulders
Feel Wedges - Align your Shoulders: Secret number 6. Align your shoulders with the slope for all shots. Now, we all love to go out there and just hit that driver, we would love to get a 350 or 450 yards with no problem. The only problem is, it's not going to stay in the fairway all the time. You've got to learn the wedges, to get back to the fairway.
Feel Wedges - Aligning to the Target
Feel Wedges - Aligning to the Target: Secret number 2. Keep your arms free, very soft and relaxed. And keep your chest turned away from the target during the swing and let your arms full through the shot. Your shoulders will automatically line up to the target and your arms will follow the shoulder line right through to the target. Now we'll show you the wedge swing used by many great players. And also, it also carries over to the power game. Chest turned away, from the target, let the arms just swing softly through, keep your right foot down, the shoulders will align towards target, the arms will just follow the shoulders. But the arms must remain soft and let the club do the work through, no power, just soft arms and let it go. Now a lot of us spend a lot of money on taking lessons and so on like that, learning the power game and so on. But in order to become a better scorer, you must learn how to play wedges. And if you can't wedge within five or ten feet, and have a chance for that birdie, your scoring isn't going to get any better. In order to be a better putter, you must be a better wage player.
Feel Wedges - Ball Sitting Up
Feel Wedges - Ball Sitting Up: Secret number 7. If the ball is sitting up one-half inch, play the ball one-half to one-inch back in your stance. A ball sitting up, increases the loft of the wedge. If sitting up one-inch, play back one inch. OK, now what I'm going to do here, I've got a really tight lie. Normally, if there wasn't a windy, swirly condition from there, I'm about 70 yards out, I'd hit a lob wedge, just let it come through nice and softly. But chances are, the wind is going to catch it and it's not going to be as accurate as I would want to be. So what I'm going to do, is swing nice and easy and make sure that a 60 degree lob can do the job. So what I did there, was move the ball back an inch into my stance. Playing into the wind, kept the trajectory low and I'm about 10 feet away from the pin. Another chance for a birdie putt.
Feel Wedges - Dr. Feel
Feel Wedges - Dr. Feel: Doctor Feel's 10 wedge secrets. My name is Lee Miller, signature and PGA member, and affectionately known to tour players, amateurs and juniors as “Dr. Feel.” We're here today to show why wedges are called the paint brushes of golf. Just as a painter has different brushes for fine detail, wedges are the detail brushes to golfers who know how to score.
Feel Wedges - Final Thoughts
Feel Wedges - Final Thoughts: If you want to improve your short game, review this video over and over, and just watch your game improve. But you must practice, and practice correctly. Learn the swing, as we have shown you here today, and not only will your score improve, but your distance and your control will improve also.
Feel Wedges - Greenside Bunker Shots
Feel Wedges - Greenside Bunker Shots: Secret number three, for greenside bunker shots, open your club face and imagine throwing sand with your left arm all the way to the pin. The ball will float out to the pin, that's all you have to do. It's arm swing only, slow and easy. Same tempo back, same tempo through. Well we're in a bunker, greenside bunker, with about 40 foot. It's downhill, the swing is the same for the bunkers as for any other wedge shot. The only thing I'm going to imagine here is I'm going to pick up a spot in the sand and it's true behind the ball, and in my mind I'm just going to throw sand to the flag, that's all I'm trying to do. So again it's soft arms, let the club do the work, keep the body absolutely still, keep your shoulders aligned to the target. The set-up is the same as you did on the wedges, there's no counting sideways or taking the club outside, that's for the old time wedge styles, with the feel wedges you don't have to do that no more.
Feel Wedges - Gripping the Wedge
Feel Wedges - Gripping the Wedge: Secret number four, on all wedge shots use a soft and semi-loose grip and just let the club flow through. Do not try to guide, just let it happen. Now the main reason that you saw how uses those shots were, were noting from the swing, but from the design of the wedges. You'll see where I've put a mark across the face of the club here, showing where the toe design starts falling away here, and it comes straight over to the inverted conical hozzel. Now what this does is it allows the same amount of sand or rough to get on the toe of the club as it does in here, and allows the club to come through with equal resistance. And then the way that the bounce is designed on this, it glides right through, just like you're skipping a rock across water.
Feel Wedges - Lob Shot
Feel Wedges - Lob Shot: What I'm going to show you here is about a 15 yard flat shot. Now you've all seen Tiger Woods do this, from 15 - 20 yards out to 5 yards in, and I'll show you that shot in a minute. I'm going to take the blade, with the 64 degree, I'm going to lay it open by about 10 to 15 degrees. Arms are going to be soft, slow movement, and just let the arms follow the shoulder line. Now that's about a six inch put. As long as you don't try to power the shot through, let the arms be nice and soft, and let the club do the work, you too can be a great flat player. Knowing your wedge distance, that's what it's all about in scoring. With the 52, 56 and 60 wedges from feel wedge system, it really is a scoring arsenal. The only thing have to do: know your distance, even step it off like you've seen the pros do, pick out the proper yardage wedge, and just swing. Now in a normal set there's a 10 to 12 yard shot difference between your clubs all the way down. Until you get to the wedge, now the wedge is bring used for 100 yards in, does that make any sense? The manufacturers must sell you on power, that's where the money is. Look just think about it, is that where the scoring is? Over 90% of practice facilities in this country don't even have a short game area. If they have a putting green, there'll probably be a sign there that says no chipping allowed. How can your game get better?
Feel Wedges - Proper Swing Power
Feel Wedges - Proper Swing Power: Secret number one: Wedges are precision scoring clubs, do not force your swing. Swing with a maximum of 70% power, the weight of the wedge will do the work. Now I'll show you the short game basics and the swing, the swing you've seen on TV and said, I don't know how they do it. What we have here is a shot that we've all encountered many times. we're short of the green, we're in the fringe, rough's about an inch deep, and I got to get it to there to save my par. So what I'm going to do, just take my arm back nice and soft, let the club and come through just like I'm throwing a ball, underhanded nice and soft like from here to the pin. I'm going to keep my shoulders aligned to that, and use arms only. Gonna open the club here, probably about 12 degrees, and then just swing. [takes shot] and out of the rough, that ball's makable for a put.
Feel Wedges - Shots from the Rough
Feel Wedges – Shots from the Rough: Secret number 5, shots from the rough. The deeper the rough the firmer your grip must be. If the rough is one inch high, play the ball back in the stance one to two inches from your normal position. If the rough is two inches high, play the ball back two to three inches from normal. If it is three inches high, play three to four inches back. Now we're going to show you here, as my ball is setting up, about a half inch above here in the rough. Now this is not a difficult shot, but it is an extremely difficult shot to get a club to go through it. You'll see why the feel wedges, the way they are designed will just flow right on through with a nice easy arm swing, and let the club do the work. That's about a five footer, just glide it right through, don't try to power it, just let the arms and the club do the work.
Feel Wedges - Spanking the Ball
Feel Wedges – Spanking the Ball: Secret number nine, the softer the arms are in the wedge swing, the more you will spank the ball and the better wedge player you will become. What I'm going to do now is come down softly on the ball so I don't have as much back spin, let it go up, hit once or twice, release, and go to the hole. I'm going to play the ball just a little bit forward from what I did with the ball that I wanted to spin, maybe one ball forward, or right center of my stance, and let it run to the hole. Soft arms, you want it to spin and bite, come down sharply on it, smash the ball against the resistance of the ground, and right on through, no power, just right down on it. If you want to release, just move the ball up forward, soften up the hands and just let the arms go.
Feel Wedges - Tight Lies and Divots
Feel Wedges – Tight Lies & Divots Secret number eight, for tight lies and/or balls from a divot. Play ball two to three inches back from the right foot from normal. This allows a steeper down swing and compresses the ball quicker. Now what we have here is a position that I'm going to chip versus pitch. I'm setting it down in the rough, I'm down grain, down hill. The ball as it lies right now, I don't know how much grass is going to get between that and the club face, so it's going to come out without much back spin and release. What I am going to do here is use the highest lofted club that I have and I'm just going to pitch it, just like a putting stroke. I'm going to pitch it about half way, soft hands and let it release 5,6,7 feet. I'm going to play the ball back, right center, hands soft. It's about one foot past the hole a little up hill putt. That I can make from my birdie. Now with the Feel 3 Wedge system, all the wedges are the same length, same feel, and same balance points. The only thing that changes is the loft and the bounce, which means you just have to select the right club, make the swing and let it happen.
Feel Wedges - Your Stance and Swing
Feel Wedges – Your Stance & Swing: Secret number ten, keep your right foot planted firmly on the ground when playing the wedges on all shots. Only after impact should the right foot come up slightly. The wedge swing is an arm and upper torso swing only. Never ever force the swing. With the Feel Wedges, the professional preferred weight will do all the work. Just let your arms flow softly. Remember in order to become a great wedge player, you just have to follow Dr. Feels 10 Wedge secrets.
