Alpina Discovery Back Country Ski - About

Alpina Discovery Back Country Ski – About: This is our best selling back country ski that we’ve had ever. It’s the Alpina Discovery model. It’s been sold in multiple shops all over the country. It’s been a great, true, really nice performing back country ski. We introduced it several years ago. It’s a three-quarter steel edged ski with a really well done, molded positive base, and I think the combination of the steel edges with this type of base, the wood core air channel that it has, and the fact that it’s 68/60 so you have 60 mm of platform under foot, just feels really stable. It’s quite lively. It’s been to Greenland and back. It’s been to the North Pole; it’s been used on several expeditions. It’s just been a great all-around ski.

Alpina Discovery Back Country Ski - Features

Alpina Discovery Back Country Ski – Features: We utilize the Scuff Tuff top here as well, adds a little bit of durability. In some weird snow conditions, it tends to release the snow a little bit easier. These skis are fairly light. The steel edges add some weight, but the steel edge is such a great addition for anybody that’s going to ski off-track. These happen to do fit in-track, so it’s not something you can’t do, but I think most people are going to select this model if they’re going to do some hut to hut skiing and go out and ski for the day with a pack, ski with their dogs. Whatever they do, I think this would be a great all-around choice and primarily used with the NNMBC system. A little heavier duty boot is advised on a ski that’s got a little bit more beef to it. You need the boot in order to drive the system better.
