So you have this metal substructure underneath your seat, which allows it to attach conveniently to the LATCH system in your vehicle. You have that added stability in a collision. It's easier for the child to get in and out, without the seat moving around. And it's not a projectile when the child isn't in it. More importantly for parents, it's very convenient for portability. You just pull this strap and the seat's ready to go. Comes with a convenient strap-thingy carrying strap. Puts on my shoulder. Away I go.
