Hyper X Driver - About

Hyper X Driver – About: The face of titanium has changed. The result? More ball speed than ever before. Introducing the new Hyper X Driver from Calloway Golf. The Hyper X Driver provides a new benchmark in all-titanium performance. The introduction of hyperbolic face technology redefines the look, feel, and speed at which golf balls leave the club face. Calloway Golf engineers have sculpted the face to dramatically increase impact efficiency for greater distance on shots hit across the entire face. Strategic internal weighting and precise wall thickness provide a high moment of inertia and increase forgiveness for more workability and shot control. A larger face area with a new score line pattern provides great looks in the playing position while creating a larger effective hitting area. An S2H2 design increases discretionary mass by removing it from the hozzle area and repositioning it to more advantageous areas. Hyper X tour drivers are designated by half degree lofts and face angles that are slightly open, delivering the look and confidence that more accomplished players demand. Advanced shaft designs by Fujikura add to the incredible feel and performance, plus the Hyper X Driver’s components are part of our patented Optifit Driver System, providing the ultimate fitting experience for any level of player. Hyper X Driver - Alan Hocknell

Hyper X Driver - Alan Hocknell: This is the Hyper X Driver, which is the latest in titanium driver technology from Calloway Golf. Its main feature is a hyperbolic face, which means that the center of the face is very much thicker than the edges of the face and follows this hyperbolic thickness pattern that allows us to produce the center of the face up to the limits allowed by the ruling bodies whilst having the edges of the face as fast as possible. To complement that, we don’t need a very elongated body shape. In fact, you see the shape here does not need that stretch. Instead, we have a more traditional body shape which allows the center of gravity to be closer to the face, giving us both ball speed and ball spin robustness. For the golfer, that means more consistent trajectories translating to longer, straighter shots overall.

Hyper X Driver - Jeff Colton

Hyper X Driver - Jeff Colton: Hi. Let me talk to you about our new Hyper X Driver from Calloway Golf. It’s an all-titanium, 460cc driver, pretty traditional in shape, very clean, elegant styling. The key to the driver, though, is we started with the face, and it’s got our new hyperbolic face technology. What’s there on the other side of the face is this hyperbolic shape. It’s defined by a set of curves that’s called a hyperbola, and it’s actually a very good mathematical formula for optimizing the stress and the strain that a driver face sees on an impact when it hits a golf ball. So, you see it’s very thick in the center; that’s to keep the ball speed down per the rules of golf, you know, limiting the coefficient of restitution, but very thin on the heel, toe, up, and down. Like most of us, we don’t hit the ball in the center of the face all the time if ever and therefore, we need a lot of help on those mishits, and that’s exactly what this face does. This thin region, up, down, side to side, gives us more ball speed on those off-center hits and really helps maintain that ball speed, which leads to more distance all over the face. So, very excited about this product, really revolutionizing all-titanium. You get the same type of performance in titanium that you would in one of our multi-material products like the FTI or the FT5 driver. So, very excited, reinventing all-titanium and starting with this great new face technology, hyperbolic face.

Hyper X Driver - Rich Beam

Hyper X Driver - Rich Beam: The face really sets up square where sometimes, you can get drivers that really seem to have the tow hooked in there. This one seems like it sets up awfully square. And I think square drivers, you set them up, they’re so much easier to work left to right and right to left where sometimes you get them, you want them hooked in a little bit, this and that. I think you ought to have them dead straight, even a little bit open. And I think that’s the best way. If you see anything hooked a little bit, you’re toast. So I think that when you get to oversized heads, that’s what you’re going to see. Like putters, those big, really oversized putters, the longer it is, the more it looks like it’s hooked. You can never get that done, so I like that. It seemed the facings would be short enough. I mean, it sets up fantastic. Like to have a couple of these made up, too.
