Callaway FT-i-brid – About: The latest in a long legacy of innovation incorporating fusion technology, the superior weight-shifting science created by Calloway Golf. Introducing the FT i-brid irons. Multi-material construction enables weight to be shifted for optimal performance. The lightweight titanium body allows for an oversize clubhead with increased offset for greater forgiveness and an increased effective hitting area. Heavy tunnite weighting in the sole has been concentrated toward the heel and toe for a higher moment of inertia and better stability while keeping the center of gravity low and deep. The TPU sensor is composed of a chemically engineered thermoplastic urethane that decreases vibration and creates an incredibly solid feel. Clubs that blend the control and accuracy of irons with the forgiveness, distance, and versatility of hybrids. The low, deep center of gravity helps get the ball in the air quickly and easily, while the wide sole helps improve turf interaction. Designed for the ultimate in forgiveness, with their oversize design featuring an increased offset, mid and short irons offer a large, effective hitting area and a wide sole for improved turf interaction. Seemless performance progression throughout the set provides consistent distance separation with optimal trajectories. And finally, the polycarbonite tip plug at the end of the shaft is an advanced version of the original true bore design, dampening vibration for enhanced feel and performance. The most advanced iron technology we’ve ever created, the new FT i-brid irons. Callaway Golf – a better game by design.
Callaway FT-i-brid - Alan Hocknell
Callaway FT-i-brid – Alan Hocknell: This is the FT i-brid design. It’s a brand-new concept in an iron set in that in the upper irons we have performance similar to wide-soled irons that we’ve produced in the past. In other words, we have a titanium cradle with tunnite wedge to produce a low, rearward center of gravity that makes the ball really easy to get up in the air. But as we approach the longer irons, we produce a new iron that we call an i-brid, and it has different characteristics than long irons have had in the past. It has a wide sole and weights in the toe and the heel, but this fusion construction allows us to center a gravity that’s about 30% deeper than previous long irons, and has an overall moment of inertia that’s about 33% greater than previous long irons. That produces characteristics that are extremely forgiving – a very stable head, very easy to get the ball up in the air, and also, it doesn’t dig. Now, we find that players of medium ability get the most benefit from this type of club because, being integrated, there’s only one real iron-like swing type that has to be applied throughout the set. This would be more a forgiving package than, say, adding a hybrid club as would normally be the case. So I would encourage you to go and try this new i-brid concept.
Callaway FT-i-brid - Chris Foley
Callaway FT i-brid – Chris Foley: I’m Chris Foley from Maddens on Gull Lake in Brainerd, Minnesota. Today we’re going to talk about Callaway’s new super improvement iron, the FT i-brid. What makes the i-brid such a great, easy golf club to hit is it’s got a wide sole and low center of gravity. Callaway’s been able to achieve this by taking weight out of the back of the golf club, replacing it with a lighter-weight material, and distributing the weight in areas of the iron that make it easier to get up in the air and much more stable at impact. If you have trouble hitting behind the golf ball or hitting the ball up in the air, this is a great golf club for you.
