Callaway Big Bertha Women's Iron - Alan Hocknell

Callaway Big Bertha Women's Iron - Alan Hocknell: This is the Women’s Big Bertha Iron for 2008. It’s very special because it’s the product of about nine months’ worth of research between R&D and women golfers. So we’ve gone and played golf with women. We’ve gone and shopped for equipment with women. We’ve gone to their homes and understood their relationship with golf. All of those insights have given us ideas to be built into this set of irons. So consistent with other Big Bertha irons, it has a wide sole, and it has a thick top line. It has a lot of forgiveness built into it. But the iron is special because from the 7 iron down through the 3 iron, we have integrated I-brid designs. These are going to allow people who normally start to have distance separation problems in their longer irons, to actually hit irons consistently longer and longer as they go down the set towards the 3 iron. We’ve done that by making the shafts longer, the overall clubs lighter, and the lofts stronger. We found that intended with this I-brid design is a thick sole here, which allows us to make the center of gravity really low and deep. Those clubs enable the ball to get up really easily, even though they’re in the longer irons. So for women golfers who are in the developing state in their game, this is the ultimate set, incorporating regular iron performance with these new I-brids into a single integrated iron set.
