Alpina BC 2050 Backcountry Boots - About

Alpina BC 2050 Backcountry Boots – About: The BC 2050 is the premium back country boot in the Alpina Boot line. We’ve had it in the line for some time and we’ve actually learned from our skating side or our racing side and we utilized some of that same technology in the back country segment. This would be a boot that would be used for people that are going to do some heavier, maybe overnight touring, going on some long distance runs that require that extra stability. It’s a great boot as far as flexibility in the front for general touring, but as you can see, it has a very big molded heel counter with a nice hinged cuff that’s also asymmetrical. It’s more stability to the inside so that when you get the power onto the edges (and these types of boots are generally used with metal edge skis), you’re going to get the most performance of the boot--that type of skiing with having a boot that’s more designed for a little more rugged use. It does have Thinsulate, speed lacing internally. It has Neoprene-like closure on the top so it’s very comfortable—quite warm, which is a nice asset. It also has an Achilles closure, a Velcro closure, over the Achilles. It’s very important that your heel stays nice and down when you’re skiing cross country because you’re still moving. You’re still flexing the boot just like if you were walking, but yet you want the stability. You can see it has a metal clip closure in the front which is easy to adjust on the Velcro in the front. And the cuff itself is also relatively tall for the added stability. A great more rugged boot choice.
