Audio Technica History

Audio Technica: Hi this is Gary Boss, here, with Audio Technica. I’d like to tell you a little bit about our company. We were started in 1962 in Japan and it was really a passion for audio that drove the founder to begin to make his own phono cartridges. It was that love for high end audio in the audiophile world that drove us to the opening of Audio Technica in the U.S. in 1972. That’s when we really started to move into the professional audio arena, begin to making headphones and microphones based on the that transducer technology that was started in 1962 and that passion for audio. Through the years we’ve had many groundbreaking products, such as the UniPoint line of microphones, which was one of the first cardioid condenser microphones, as well as the Spectra Pulse. 4033 really got us into the studio market and that was one of the first affordable side-address microphones of professional sound quality. Again, it’s this overlying quality and strive for perfection in audio that has driven this company to where it is today.
