About Atlas 12 Series

About Atlas 12 Series: Atlas makes snowshoes for several different snowshoeing categories. In the mountain hiking category which is really dedicated to the more rugged mountain backcountry user, the 12 Series is the top of the line. This is our Women’s Elektra 12 available in a 23 and 27 inch length. The Elektra 12 is the top-end snowshoe on the market with Wrap Pro Binding with silicone straps and silicone coated webbing which flows really easily through the binding for one-pull ease. For durability we have the reactive frame which is our latest patent for Atlas. The frame moves from a cylindrical to an elliptical shape, 7075 aluminum which adds added durability and greater strength, stronger flex which as you walk with the SLS. SLS is one of the founding parts of all the Atlas Snowshoes. It provides natural articulation of the foot over uneven terrain letting it flex side to side. SLS doesn’t flex the straps itself but it flexes the frame inward with each step and it provides deeper penetration of the crampon. For traction, the 12 Series, both the men’s and the women’s, have our Holey-1 toe crampon with wider prongs for shovel-like grip in the hard snow and Advanced Aft Traction for traction on uphill, downhill and side hill. For steeper climbing the 12 Series has the heel lift along with all the other mountain hiking shoes which reduces calf fatigue on steeper slopes and the durability of Duratek decking is flexible and durable even when hiking on cold, hard surfaces.
