Akai APC40 Controller Hi! My name is Eric McGregor. I’m a product specialist with Akai Professional. I’m standing in front of the APC40 Controller from Akai Professional this year. This is the only controller for Ableton line that is actually endorsed by Ableton, and we have their logo on there as well as our logo. The reason it’s called the APC40, it’s the Ableton Performance Controller. Essentially, this is a fancy mouse that gets your hands inside the computer to control all the various clips of music, the beats, the bass lines, the synth lines without having to mouse around and touch it. I can simply call up a different drumbeat on these guys by simply pressing the button. I can tack tempo. I can bring in other drum lines. I can bring in bass lines. I can control the volumes for each one. I can control the pans for each one. I can control the sends for each one. If I have an effect on the bottom down here, this becomes my device control. I can actually control my different effects down here on the bottom. The cool thing about this is that it has a proprietary bi-directional protocol. What this means: I can make a change on this knob, and you’ll see the change happen on the screen. That’s great. That’s the way most controllers work, except we also get information back from the computer, and I get readouts on my LED showing me visually on the controller what I’m doing as well. Your clips light up green when you play the sample. It’s amber when there’s a sample or clip there, but it’s not playing. I can press this, and now this one will change green and this one will stop. If it’s cleared out, you have nothing playing. If it’s red, you’re armed and ready to record. So the APC40 is basically the perfect performance controller for anyone who is using Ableton Live as their software of choice to either perform live or do studios. You’ve got your hands all over the screen, all over your controls, and it’s basically the premier controller for Ableton Live by Akai Professional. It’s the APC40 from Akai Professional.
